  6.                 Release Note on Elite 2864I Version 0.01

  8. 1. Please press the D/V button and turn on the Elite 2864I to do a
  9.    hardware reset on the modem and have the modem load in the factory
  10.    default settings.
  11. 2. Please refer to the 2864I series ISDN modem user's manual for
  12.    explanation of the power on self-test.
  13. 3. Use ATI1 to check the ISDN modem's firmware version. Firmware version
  14.    0.xx is used for ß-test. The formal commercial version will start
  15.    from version 1.00. ATI1 will also show the version of the internal
  16.    fax/modem, which has the same definition (and the same features) as
  17.    the firmware version of the Elite 2864 V.34 modem. For this ß-version
  18.    (Ver 0.01) the internal fax/modem is not included. It will be added
  19.    into the Elite 2864I in the next version (Ver 0.02).
  20. 4. If the D-channel signaling protocol installed in your sample(s) does
  21.    not fit your ISDN switch you can upload the proper firmware into your
  22.    samples' flash EPROM. There are three files for this version:
  23.         E2864IE.001 .... European ISDN (DSS1)
  24.         E2864IG.001 .... German ISDN (1TR6)
  25.         E2864IA.001 .... North America ISDN (NI-1,AT&T 5ESS, and NT
  26.                          DMS-100)
  27.    Please refer to Chapter 3 of the user's manual for procedures of
  28.    uploading the firmware.
  29. 5. There are four on-line help commands that you are recommended to try
  30.    first:
  31.         AT$, AT&$, AT*$, and ATS$
  32. 6. The Embedded Protocol Analyzer (EPA) can be a very powerful tool for
  33.    ß-testers to record and report the test result. Please refer to
  34.    Chapter 12 of the user's manual.
  35. 7. We have just implemented the feature-phone functions to the a/b
  36.    adaptor. Please check if they work well.
  37. 8. The data encryption function is also new in this version. Please
  38.    refer to Chapter 14 of the user's manual for detailed information.
  39.    You can send short plain-text packets and use the EPA to capture the
  40.    B-channel's cipher-text to see the effect of the encryption. Both
  41.    manually entered key or automatic session key can be used.
  42. 9. The dual TEI capability required by the NT DMS-100 will be added in
  43.    the next version (Ver 0.02). Also we have not stored the SPID into
  44.    the NVRAM so you may have to key-in the SPID every time when you turn
  45.    on the Elite 2864I.
  46. 10.The channel bundling protocol now implemented is X.75 MLP (TELES
  47.    compatible). We are working on the cFOS Channel Bundling and hoping
  48.    that we can include it in version 0.03.
  49. 11.For the B-channle protocols, in addition to the V.120, V.110, and
  50.    X.75, we have added the PPP async-to-sync HDLC conversion as well as
  51.    the SLIP to sync HDLC conversion. These protocols are useful for the
  52.    LAN/Internet applications. Please refer to Chapter 8 of the user's
  53.    manual.

  55. 12.If you are running at 460.8K bps DTE speed, please make sure you are
  56.    using the 486DX 66MHz(or faster) machine and the Procom-Plus(or a
  57.    more efficient one) communication program. The Smartdrv function must
  58.    be enabled. A simple way to isolate the fault if you have too many
  59.    CRC error indications during file transfer is to use the V.42bis. Any
  60.    error occurred below the link layer will likely cause the ISDN modem
  61.    to blow out. If the ISDN modem is still alive and there are CRC
  62.    errors, the DTE interface or the Computer may have some speed
  63.    problem.
  64. 13.AT&T1 (ISDN loopback test) and AT&T8 (ISDN loopback with self-test)
  65.    can be used for quick evaluation of the B-channel protocols as well
  66.    as the hardware. Only V.110, V.120, and X.75 can be tested. Data
  67.    encryption, V.42bis, and/or channel bundling can be enabled in these
  68.    tests whenever applicable.

  73.                 Release Note on Elite 2864I Version 0.02

  75. 1. The internal fax/modem has been integrated into the Elite 2864I's
  76.    firmware. This includes G3 fax, V.32bis, ZyXEL 19200 as well as V.34
  77.    modem. Please test these functions in the DTE channel 0 (AT&O0).
  78.    We are porting the voice mode on the Elite 2864I. Don't issue any
  79.    voice command now !
  80. 2. The SPID (for North America ISDN) assigned via the AT command
  81.    ATSPIDn=xxxx is stored in the NVRAM. When power-on the Elite 2864I,
  82.    it will automatically handshake with the switch for TEI assignment.
  83. 3. The AT&Dn and AT&Sn commands have been implemented.
  84. 4. The AT&Vn command has been revised. Please use AT&$ command to view
  85.    the new definition of this command.
  86. 5. Remove the ISDN line before using AT&T1 (ISDN loopback test) or AT&T8
  87.    (ISDN loopback with self-test). We found that during these tests
  88.    there will be B-channel data leakage to the S/T interface. We are
  89.    trying to fix this problem.
  90. 6. We failed to include the dual TEI function in this version. Please
  91.    wait for the next version (0.03).

  98. 1. Fixed the bugs of ATZ and AT&Ln.
  99. 2. Dual TEI function has been implemented for the Northern Telecom ISDN
  100.    DMS-100 so that two B channels can be used simultaneously.
  101. 3. Fixed the bug of the internal fax/modem of American version where an
  102.    incoming call can not be answered.
  103. 4. The output power of the the a/b adapter was too high in the previous
  104.    versions. We changed the output power to the correct level.
  105. 5. A new V.34 firmware with better performance has been included in
  106.    this version.
  107. 6. For north America ISDN, the LNK LED will light up after power-on
  108.    when the SPID registration is finished and the link connection is
  109.    established between the ISDN modem and the Central Office.
